About me

I am an accomplished music professional. After 31 years serving in the British Army, I have established myself as a leading expert in the field of music, delivering high standards in music competences in key areas – specifically, Musical Direction, Military Tattoo and Event Consultancy and Coaching.

During my military career, I served in various diverse roles. After being a Training Officer of the Band of the Royal Gibraltar Regiment, then of the Royal Corps of Signals, in 2005 I was appointed the Director of Music to the Royal Regiment of Scotland, based in Edinburgh.

Then in 2009, I became Operations and Policy Development Officer at Headquarters, Corps of Army Music before moving as Director of Music of The Life Guards (part of the Household Cavalry) in 2011 where I served until I chose to retire in 2015. Besides music, I have served in some exciting and diverse environments – on the London Ambulances (as a medic) during their strike of 1990, in Iraq as a Communications Officer in 2003 and as Media Officer for the Corps of Army Music whilst serving at Kneller Hall, the home of Army Music.

I have performed extensively worldwide and represented the UK at diplomatic functions as well as providing musical support to major ceremonial parades in London – Trooping the Colour, State visits and The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee to mention just a few. Whether providing music for a Government garden party in Madrid, conducting the massed bands at the Edinburgh Tattoo or Basel Tattoo in Switzerland, or a performance ‘bridging different cultures’ in Lagos, Nigeria, I have regularly delivered at the highest level in musical variety and engagement.

In addition to my musical expertise, I am also an effective communicator. Often the focal point for major ceremonial events in London, I gave live interviews with the BBC, British Forces radio and TV and local radio at home and abroad. My articulate and eloquent voice has also been used for radio and TV adverts and is perfect for concert presentation or public speaking.

I pride myself on making a difference. My dedication to maximizing the talent of others and improving efficiency is at the heart of my operability as shown extensively throughout an impressive career in the British Army.

If you are looking for improvement, in need of a personable fresh approach, wanting to work with an enthusiastic expert and you want someone who will see things through to the end, then I am the right person for you.
